And ... we're back!
Well, it has been a while since I was last here. Actually here used to be on Blogspot, but I’ve just moved everything lock, stock and barrel (well, ok, except the comments) over to a static Jekyll site.
I’m writing this in April 2021, a little after the first anniversary of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. I was fortunate enough to be able to just switch to working from home, so the last year+ has been mostly business-as-usual, except for going out of the house much. Or meeting with people other than those I live with. But I feel very fortunate, nonetheless.
Sorting out my personal site wasn’t a lockdown-project per se, I’ve actually been pretty busy. But it has been something that’s been on my mind to do for ages. One of the things that finally tipped me over was getting nagged by Google to update the Analytics on the site. I have got thoroughly sick of clicking through cookie notices, and I see no reason to impose them on anyone who comes here. But under GDPR, PII-collecting cookies require a cookie-consent dialogue. So the obvious solution: bye-bye Google Analytics. Now I have no idea how many visitors I’m getting, but that’s cool.
I have various ideas for things I’d like to do with this site, or write about, now that it’s up and running again. Time permitting, of course. For now, it’s just nice to be back.
